    Description

You are bidding on a set of 10 total printed images from the World's Columbian Exposition, originals that were sold by subscription at the fair in small sets/groups.
We had these THIRTY total prints slated for our September 1 sale, but we are so overflowing with great material in the sale that we decided to offer these early--a bit of advertising for our largest sale ever with some 350 items total--from12 world's fairs, Civil War, US Coins, Eastman College obsolte fractional currency just to name a few. Medals, tokens, coins, tickets, documents, 3D items including original large bank and figural clock from the World's Columbian Expo.
At least 50 lots (even more items considering several lots consist of multiple medals) from the World's Columbian Exposition are in our forthcoming sale, but all told a dozen of the most famous world's fairs of the last 170 years are represented!
I will apologize up front for the poor photography. I'm just not set up to photograph very large flat art.
Each of these prints is about 14x18 inches.
A few were actually printed a very small fraction of an inch larger or smaller than others.
All are black and white photos that were lithographed in 1893 and sold in groups by subscription as "Jackson's Famous Pictures." The subscription brought these photos with a wraparound few pages of text. They also were sold as an unbound hardcover book (with the heavy covers holding the prints that were not bound in so they remained frameable. I sold one such hardcover copy from the John Kennel Columbian Collection last year. I acquired these prints when I was working on my first history of the WCE that was published in 1993--28 years ago! I built a very large personal library/archive of Columbiana reference material over a 40-year period and have been selling much of it to other collectors now. I have some 30,000 computer files which serve all my editorial needs, including my forthcoming THIRD book on the Expo,
    Columbian Rarities,
due in print at the end of this year.
These prints were in OLD thick plastic sleeves, quite dusty, when I acquired them and they have been in my archive of historical documents in a flat file since before the publication of that first Columbian book.
I am offering three sets of ten prints each, all different.
THIS IS SET NUMBER 1 AND THE IMAGES INCLUDED ARE:
    1. Machinery Hall
    2. Music Hall Interior
    3. View of Electrical and Mining Buildings
    4. Administration Building
    5. Horticulture Building
    6. Transportation Building Statue
    7. Fine Arts Palace
    8. Woman's Building
    9. Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building
    10. Statue of Columbus
    IMPORTANT:
The image area of the prints are completely undamaged. That includes the area within the offwhite/yellowish printed border. Most do have chips, folds or some damage to the outer edges and/or corners. If you decide to frame your pictures you could without difficulty mat out the minor damage on the white outer borders.
