    Kenji Ushiku was born in Chiba Prefecture in 1922. He was educated in Western-style painting at the prestigious Tokyo School of Fine Arts and was known for his etchings. His first etchings were published in Japan in the 1950s. During the midcentury, his works were commissioned by Japanese and American publishers. His works are in collections and exhibitions at New York museums, the Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art, the Chiba City Museum of Art, the Sakura Museum of Art and the National Museum of Art in Osaka.
