    Description

Ju Lian Antique Chinese Painting  This listing is for a rare, original painting by the important Chinese artist Ju Lian (1828-1904).
Ju Lian (style name Guquan and assumed name Geshanlaoren ), was a younger brother of Ju Chao (also a famous painter).     He is known for his paintings of flowers, birds, grass and insects. He was one of the forerunners of the “Lingnan School”, a school of innovative painters of Chinese traditional paintings.
The frame is about 36.8 x 58.7 cm.
The visible painting is about 31.5 x 53.5 cm.
Signed lower right with the artist's seal. It is painted on silk.
There is are some holes in the silk, mostly on the lower edge.   There are also some water marks on the lower edge.   Condition as shown.
The frame dates from the 1920's-30's.    The condition it is now, is the same condition it was in when it was framed in the 1920's-30's.     It was framed in Vancouver, Canada.   The framing company label is on the back - The Art Emporium (note the old phone number SEY.832).   ie, this painting was done quite some time prior to 1920/30, in the second half of the 1800's.
Guaranteed to be 100% authentic.   It looks better in person, than shown in the pictures.
