This group of 4 cloth, wire, papier mache, twig and found object figures (2 with salvage black dolls' heads) have colorful African-inspired fabric costumes and fun accessories.  The tallest is 14 1/2" and the shortest 8" and one bears the artist's fabric label. Lydia Hardaway (1915-2004) came to art fairly late in life and experimented with all sorts of media, found objects and ceramic.  A Chicagoan for most her life, she loved color and texture and often depicted the folks she knew from her neighborhood.  All of these figures are dusty and dates to the 1970's-80's.  The 8" figure with salvaged doll body has a loose head and the 14 1/2" with manufactured head has a handmade cloth body.  The 12 1/2" tall figure with painted cloth face has "teepee" construction of natural twigs over which fabric is stretched and stitched.  All are dusty from display/storage.
