Antique, WHIMSEY BOTTLE, Religious Theme, FOLK ART, Artist "THE CAVEMAN" 1936

Description

This is one of the most Awesome Crucifix and Cross Bottle Whimseys I have ever seen.  Done by the Artist, identified as "The Caveman" Branson MO 1936. This beautifully carved Crucifix is very spare and modern.  CHRIST is wearing  a Crown of Thorns and a Purple satin loincloth.  Above His head is a paper Halo and a sign carefully lettered in ink; "Jesus King of the Jews".  The nails at His hands are feet are prominent.  At Jesus's feet is an open book.  There are carved Flowers on both sides of the base.  On the back is a Ladder is carefully lettered in ink; "Charity, Faith, Hope".  It is signed at the bottom; " Made by the Caveman Branson MO 1936".  Not much is known about "The Caveman" but his work is known in the Folk Art World of Whimsey's.  The Bottle stands 6" tall and is 2 1/4" wide.  An Amazing Piece !  Please see all pictures to really appreciate the Wonderful Nature of this piece, the Detail, Design, Style, Condition and talent of this Artist as I have done my best to describe and show.
