    Description

Personal Note from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair on a Color Penny Postal Card
    - 3.75 x 6.125 inches stiff tan
    Color Postal Card, Scott UX10
    , with brown print,
    WCE logo
globe circle and graphic of the
    Electricity Building
    (front shown). Washington, D. C.:
    U. S. Post Office
, 1893. The front message was
    written at the Fair
, and I include his note on how exhausting it was being
    on the "go"
all the time (enlargement shown). Single
    penny postal card
printed both sides with graphic of
    U. S. Grant
in black ink (Chicago #5 cancel and addressed to Miss Maggie Manis on reverse shown).  This is set No. 2 as set No. 1 sold out immediately, and the first to feature all 10 buildings and be issued with a mailing wrapper. It is listed as EX 19 in the "
    United Postal Stationery Society
" Catalog which is still in print today. These WCE commemorative color cards showing the 10 main Jackson Park buildings were the
very first picture penny postal cards
, they became the rage at the Fair, and postal cards and postcards are still with us today!
