Description

This large medal is the official medal of the Columbian Exposition, the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, Illinois.  The obverse has an image of the U. S. Government Building, with its name along the upper edge and building statistics beneath the image.  The reverse has the words
TREASURY DEPARTMENT   UNITED STATES MINT EXHIBIT
along the rim and, in the center, the words
WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION  CHICAGO  1893
.  This is the Type I (large letters) of this medal.  The composition is brass, and the diameter is
approximately 37.5 mm (1-1/2"), catalogued as so-called dollar HK-154
.
This medal is in very fine condition, with even wear, signs of handling including tiny scratches, and toning, and it is bright with a good toned brass color.
